Watchmakers Omega and Swatch recently unveiled the Swatch X Omega Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection to great fanfare with the watch already sold out ..
Drawing inspiration from the Apollo space programme of the 1960s and '70s the new Swatch X Omega Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection contains 11 different timepieces and was conceived as a homage to the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, the first watch worn by astronauts on missions to the moon.
While the original Omega Moonwatch is a must-have for watch collectors it's price is not with prices ranging from USD $7000, with this in mind a re-imagined version with Swatch was recently released causing mass hysteria and a shopping frenzy in many swatch stores around the world.
Priced at around USD $260 each watch within the collection is named after a different planet in our solar system, and carries the moniker “Mission to_” etched on the caseback, and nods to its namesake with colouring while a spacesuit-ready velcro strap adds a final touch of astronaut chic.
Surprisngly this series is not a limited edition, meaning that while the collection is currently sold out more be become availble soon however if you really can't wait watches can be found on resale sites for exagerated prices with one spotted on eBay for $2,000!
