Cleaner, safer, sunnier and less crowded – is it any wonder families such as Princess Eugenie’s are moving to Portugal?
With the news that Princess Eugenie, husband Jack Brooksbank and their son will be splitting their time between Portugal and the UK all eyes are on this Iberian nation and its appeals. The latest 2022 data from Numbeo has indeed revealed that Portugal is safer, less polluted and more affordable than the UK. For overall quality of life, Portugal ranked 15th in the world, ahead of the UK in 17th.
In safety terms, Portugal was well ahead of the UK, with the countries ranking 16th and 36th respectively. Numbeo’s pollution index, meanwhile, saw Portugal ranked as the 13th least polluted country on the planet. The UK’s pollution levels saw it take 20th place. Portugal is also less crowded than the UK, with 110 people per km2, compared to the UK’s 282, according to World Population Review.
“Portugal has so much to offer that it makes a superb choice for families as a place to live full or indeed some of the time. The climate and abundance of greenspace are ideally suited to an outdoor lifestyle, particularly in the Algarve, which enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year. And the pace of life has so much to offer in terms of mental health and wellbeing benefits. There are so many factors that contribute to the superior quality of life here.” Alda Filipe, Sales and Marketing Director, Kronos Homes
At Palmares Ocean Living & Golf, located in a natural amphitheatre overlooking the sparkling waters of the Alvor estuary in the Western Algarve, homeowners can enjoy the very best of the Portuguese lifestyle.
