As a leader in sustainable cruising through the Galapagos Islands, EcoVentura have announced the upcoming launch of MV Theory, their newest premium-class vessel and sister ship to the MV Origin that launched in 2016.
Founded in 1990, EcoVentura use almost 30 years of experience and knowledge to design and custom build the very best small ships, offering unsurpassed levels of speed, environmental technology, and comfort on voyages of discovery around the Galapagos Islands.
Named after Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, MV Origin will continue Ecoventura’s commitment to bringing five-star luxury to the seas with the environment in mind.
Identical to sister ship MV Origin, MV Theory will be a 20-passenger mega-yacht featuring 10 premium cabins with a minimalist chic design, all located on the same deck.
Inspired by the calming nature of the Galapagos Islands, Designer Cindy Muirragui incorporated a sophisticated neutral color palette of silvers, ash and dusty grey tones to complement the simple white linens.
Careful consideration has gone into soundproofing to limit the amount of engine noise audible from the 10 deluxe staterooms. Designed with discerning couples, families, and multi-generational travelers in mind, MV Theory’s cabins feature twin beds that can convert into full king-size beds. The ship also offers connecting rooms for families as well as triple cabins.
All of the spacious staterooms are located on the same deck of the ship and are the same size. To connect guests with the Galapagos’ one-of-a-kind wildlife, each room features large, three-panel panoramic windows, as well as a private bathroom with essential modern luxuries, including a rainfall shower, hairdryers, plush towels, bathrobes, and eco-friendly biodegradable soaps and shampoos.
The MV Theory will also include similar on-board amenities that guests of the MV Origin have grown to enjoy and love, including a full-time concierge, fitness center, a sundeck with chic loungers and daybeds, an open-bar policy, and a Jacuzzi. Guests can also enjoy locally inspired Ecuadorian cuisine from the comfort of the ship’s dining room or in an al-fresco setting on the sundeck. MV Theory will also offer sustainable, plant-based vegetarian and gluten-free meals, catering to a variety of food preferences. MV Theory just like it's sister vessel are official member of the Relais & Châteaux Collection
The Theory will operate on our current schedule, which rotates between two A & B seven-night itineraries, and can be combined into a comprehensive two-week excursion: Itinerary A will follow a southern/central route, and Itinerary B will follow a northern/western route. On both routes, guests can partake in daily excursions on shore, optional snorkel or glass-bottom boat and kayaking or SUP tours and will come face-to-face with the Galapagos’ freely wondering wildlife, including sea lions, blue-footed boobies, penguins, tortoises and more.
In addition to offering the most favorable naturalist-to-passenger ratio in the region with just 10 guests per guide, MV Theory has the most favorable passenger-to-crew ratio in this segment with 14 crew members.
Joining MV Origin as one of the most environmentally friendly vessels in the Galapagos, MV Theory will reduce fossil fuel consumption by more than 30% from similar yachts in the archipelago! The curved bow was designed to cut through the waves for smoother sailing, increased fuel efficiency, and less drag allowing a cruising speed of 12 knots. This also allows the ship to travel further and access landing spots many other ships can’t reach, reducing pressure on popular tourist hotspots.
As an eco-conscious company, EcoVentura are passionate about conservation and protection of the Galapagos, as such, water saving measures include reusable bottles, a specially designed water treatment plan, and ecological toilets.
Rates for 2019 start at $7,850 per person based on double occupancy, and include all meals, beverages and snacks, Captain’s welcome and farewell social gatherings, an open-bar policy, guided shore excursions, briefings and enrichment lectures, snorkel equipment, sea kayaks, paddle boards, airport check-in, meet and greet upon arrival and transfers in the islands between the airport and dock.
