Russian Oligarch Andrey Melnichenko’s 468-Foot ‘Sailing Yacht A is embargoed in Italy..
Italian police have seized the 143-metre Sailing Yacht A superyacht owned by Russian Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko, the embargo comes just days after the billionaire businessman was placed on an EU sanctions list following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
With a price tag of €530 million ($794 million), Sailing Yacht A is the ultimate embodiment of German superyachts built for the 22nd century designed by Philippe Starck and built by Nobiskrug it is a one off masterpiece measuring almost 143 m which equates to more than one and a half football pitches and has a gross tonnage of about 12.600.
Sequestered at the northern port of Trieste, Sailing Yacht A is one of the world’s largest and most advanced superyachts ever bult with unique features such as an underwater observation pod, hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and state-of- the-art navigation systems however it's most prominent feature is it's three masts towering 100m above the waterline making them the tallest and most highly loaded freestanding composite structures in the world.
This is not the first time Sailing Yacht A has been embargoed, back in 2017 the yacht was seized in Gibraltar following a €15.3million claim by yacht builders Nobiskrug shipyard for faliure of payment and breach of contract.
