In collaboration with world-renowned artist JR and unfolding across an entire carriage, L’Observatoire is a one-of-a-kind sleeper carriage designed to embraces curiosity, adventure and creativity.
Inspired by Renaissance cabinets of curiosity and astronomical observatories, JR partnered with master artisans to craft a train carriage of unparalleled detail encouraging travellers to gaze up, out, and beyond. Blending the storied legacy of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express with bold, timeless design, the interiors flow through several micro-environments, from the bedroom with a double bed and featuring a free-standing bathtub, a bathroom, a lounge with a daybed, library stocked with over 1,000 books curated by French publisher Gallimard and a hidden Tea Room with a never-seen-before oculus-shaped skylights.
Labelled “the most exclusive and spacious accommodation type on a train” pricing starts from $100,000 per night and includes all meals with a sommelier’s choice of wine and unlimited soft drinks, along with 24-hour butler service, private in-cabin dining, transfers to and from the train and amenities.
L’Observatoire is now open for bookings via the Belmond website with journeys expected to commence from March 2025.
