Spectre will fulfil the 1900 prophecy of the marque’s founder, Charles Rolls..
In an historic announcement, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Chief Executive Officer, Torsten Müller-Ötvös has announced that the marque will start the on-road testing program for its first fully electric car Spectre with clients able to take first deliveries of the luxury vehicle that promises to elevate the global all-electric car revolution in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Official images released show the new Rolls-Royce Spectre show it’ll look similar to today’s Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe. Rather than the bespoke V12 petrol engine you’ll find in your usual luxury Rolls the new Spectre will be powered by a large battery pack and a number of electric motors however Rolls-Royce has yet to confirm what form these will take.
Rolls Royce did confirm that the name Spectre was chosen to accompany other Rolls Royce names such as Dawn, host and Wraith with refernec to supernatural beings synonymous with great power who dominate the space they occupy and then disappear, leaving a track of intrigue. Such a name perfectly matches the extraordinary fully electric Rolls-Royce – a motor car that makes its presence felt before disappearing into a world.
