Conceived with discerning owners in mind, the new NEMO 50 ICE megayacht is an ambitious project that French Shipyard OCEA is developing in conjunction with designer Fulvio De Simoni.
The exhibition yacht will provide owners the opportunity to visit some of the most extreme conditions on earth such as the Polar Regions without compromising on luxury or performance as the 50m/164ft vessel’s hull will be built to Ice Class specifications. With a gross tonnage of 499 GT, the yacht will carry tenders, RIBs and landing crafts. For handling the smaller boats, the vessel will also be equipped with military-style davits to retrieve them.
For possible encounters with icebergs, or another partially submerged object, the yacht will have skegs protecting the drive shafts, propellers, and twin rudders. This is in keeping with Ocea tradition. To ensure you can venture from Antarctica to sandy shores, the power package will permit a 5,000-nautical-mile range at 10 knots and will be able to store a massive 18,492 gallons (70,000 liters) of fuel.
To keep guests comfortable during long stays, the interiors offer a vast amount of space afforded by a wide beam. The owner’s apartment boasts a full-width design and covers the fore section of the main deck – as well as a decadent suite, there is a private lounge and bathroom with space for a sauna.
As well as accommodating up to 10 guests, the Nemo 50 Ice has enough space for up to 10 crew members.
