Following on from the successful development of the C-Researcher Series and Super Yacht Sub series, Dutch company U-Boat has released images of the new "NEMO" a fun and fabulous 2-seater lightweight submersible which can be can be towed behind a car on a trailer for shoreside launching.
Designed for private use the Nemo has an ultra-modern design with sharp lines and an optimal power to weight ratio. The NEMO is also the lightest manned submersible ever built weighing just 2,500 kilograms yet despite being small and compact the submarine provide a performance which is spectacular with a battery life of 8 hours it can reach speeds of up to 3 knots (5.5 km/h or 3.4 mph) underwater and has a dive capacity of no more than 100 meters.
Beneath the surface, crew members will be able to use wireless pilot assistance communications, reflectors to illuminate the sea floor and air conditioning. The interior of the NEMO takes craftsmanship to a whole new level. Its contemporary design, with an emphasis on comfort and functionality, creates a stylish and relaxing environment for both the Pilot and those who prefer to be driven. In designing the interiors everything was focused around the U-Boat Worx pilots ensuring the Nemo is the ultimate submarine to drive as a pilot.
After purchase of the Nemo submersible, U-Boat Worx provides training courses where the owner will learn everything he or she needs to know to become a certified submersible operator. The training consists of 12 days full-time training at our facility, Sub Center Curaçao (SCC).
The NEMO is currently the only production line submarine in the world. Most of our submarines are built-to-order. The NEMO will become available once market demand has been met. Consequently, this economy of scale enables us to price the NEMO sub at €975,000 (ex. VAT).
