Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton has joined the ownership group of the National Football League’s Denver Broncos...
The seven-time world champion has teamed up with the Walton-Penner family franchise group who recently acquired the Broncos in a takeover in June.
The franchise’s ownership group is led by Rob Walton, heir to the Walmart fortune, and includes his daughter Carrie Walton her husband Greg Penner and co-CEO of Ariel Investments Mellody Hobson, agreed to buy the team from the Patrick D Bowlen Trust last month for a reported £3.81bn ($4.65bn) in the most expensive deal for a sports franchise in the world. Recently former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also joined the group.
"We're delighted to welcome seven-time Formula One World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group,'' Rob Walton said in a statement. "He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team.''

This is not Hamilton's first foray in club ownership early this year in April Hamilton aalonmg with tennis star Serena Williams joined a consortium led by the former British Airways chairman Martin Broughton to buy Chelsea - unfortnately the bid was unsuccessful with the club finally being sold to an American-led consortium fronted by Los Angeles Dodgers part‑owner Todd Boehly this year for £2.5bn ($3.1bn) .
