Hollywood actor Johnny Depp recently released 780prints through the Castle Fine Art Gallery in London, which all sold out within seconds.
From his prolific film career creating some of Hollywood’s most iconic characters, to his recent time on stage with Jeff Beck, the accompanying album release, and a 2023 European tour with supergroup the Hollywood Vampires, Johnny Depp’s creative restlessness and exploration knows no bounds. However, it is less widely known that Depp is also a keen artist and creator in his own right, having discovered an innate love for drawing and painting in his childhood, long before music and film first featured in his life.
Most recently the Hollywood actor took to Instagram to announce that his debut Friends and Heroes collection – would be going on sale via the Castle Fine Art website. The collection which depicts four people who have inspired him features Rolling Stone Keith Richards, actor Al Pacino, singer Bob Dylan and actress Elizabeth Taylor.
Within hours of the Instagram announcement, all 780 images had sold, with framed individual prints selling for £3,950 and the four main pictures going for £14,950 it is also reported that Castle Fine Art website temporarily crashed due to the sheer volume of people trying to purchase Depp’s work.
Reflecting on his work in a gallery brochure for Castle Fine Art, the actor said: “I’ve always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who matter most to me, like my family, friends and people I admire. My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.”
