The all-new model GV70 for the Genesis brand is it's first entrant in the red hot compact luxury SUV segment..
Officially established in 2015, Genesis is the luxury vehicle division of the Hyundai Motor Group. Apart from signing on to commercialize luxury urban air mobility using Personal Air Vehicles, Hyundai has been releasing luxury cars on par with the leading German brands. True to their commitment to their slogan "New Thinking, New Possibilities," Hyundai is continuously looking to improve the transportation experience. Case in point: Genesis recently announced the newest member of its family — the Genesis GV70 SUV.
Here's everything you need to know about it...
Athletic Elegance
The 2022 GV70 is available in two models: Standard 2.5T and Sport 3.5T. Its dramatic exterior is accentuated by the “Parabolic Line,” a sharp chrome strip lining the top of the windows which follows along the coupe-like roofline.
The Standard version has a more refined look, with dual vertical exhausts at its rear. Meanwhile, the Sport model is visually much wider, with a diffuser and larger, circular exhausts. It also has larger air intakes on its lower front fascia and a darkened shield grille.
Driving performance
The Standard version is powered by a 252-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged I-4 cylinder engine, while the Sport counterpart has a 365-hp 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine. Both are equipped with a multiple-board PCB or a stack printed electrical circuit board design that grants the SUVs enough power while maintaining their efficiency. The PCB is also interconnected with their transmission systems, cranking out 311 lb-ft of torque and 391 lb-ft, respectively, granting the vehicles all the power they need for an elegant and smooth drive. The GV70’s electronically adjustable sport suspension, Brembo® brakes, and sturdier chassis also mean that the engine is relatively quiet.
Additionally, its all-wheel drive (AWD) technology sends the torque to both the front and rear axle. This is perfect for road trips in regions that experience inclement weather, as the AWD drive system automatically determines just how much power and traction are needed. And with five drive modes available, including Sport+, one can also drive alongside a launch control function, which means it can go from 0-60 extremely quick for an SUV.
The inside
The cabin is enhanced by quilted Nappa leather seats, which provide heat resistance, ample ventilation, and even a massage feature, taking comfort and support to the next level. Its interior takes inspiration from the organic shape of airplane wing profiles — oval-themed dashboard, center console, and door panels.
But the most impressive thing about the Genesis GV70 is how it focuses on the driver experience, behind the wheel. Borrowing details from its predecessor the GV80, the GV70’s driver-centric interior features haptic HVAC controls and a 14.5-inch touchscreen, controlled via a raised knob in the center console, all adhering to the intuitive control motif. Furthermore, the SUV steps up as the first vehicle to start with a fingerprint reader, removing the need for a key. And with the Genesis app, users can lock and unlock the SUV by simply tapping it on the door handle. The highly anticipated Genesis GV70 SUV was released this summer. Prices start at €39,600 for the Standard version and €46,600 for the Sport model. It will also be available in 13 exterior colors, including four matte hue options, and seven interior colors.
