Pharrell Williams celebrates his love of the cosmos with this limited edition signature watch in collaboration with Richard Mille ...
Award-winning singer, songwriter, and music producer Pharrell Williams has always had a fascination for space and this perfectly illustrated with his collaboration with luxury watch makers Richard Mille with the RM 52-05 Tourbillon.
Exquisitely designed the watch depicts the Earth observed from Mars, a viewpoint expressing one of Pharrell Williams’ dreams and more accurately showcases the Mariner Valley where the first-ever Mars probe touched down.
Richard Mille’s signature blocky style and hex screw features are as prominent as ever
but the attention to details are what sets this piece apart. The bezel and caseback are
made from Grade 5 titanium (90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium) which is the same material used in the aerospace and aeronautics industry. Looking deeper you will also find dazzling blue aventurine glass that gives off the appearance of stars in the night sky thanks to the inclusion of hexagonal copper crystals.
To recreate the imaginary Martian scene, the curved 5N gold visor has been engraved using specially created burins, grand-feu-enamelled and then hand-painted. The engraving alone requires 15 hours per piece, followed by an entire day of grand feu enameling.
Powered by a CALIBRE RM52-05, the watch features a fast rotating barrel, a tourbillon, 50 meters of water resistance and a 42-hour power reserve. Functionality is kept minimal with only an hour and minutes display; allowing the artwork on the dial to be admired without distractions and as standard the strap is the standard signature Richard Mille rubber strap
Only 30 watches,RM 52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams will be produced with each watch expected to retail at $969,000
