Iconic London department store Harrods has announced it will open a new private members club in Shanghai the first of its kind outside the UK ..
The new club, called The Residence, will open at the end of this year on the second floor of Cha House a central Shanghai heritage building where a Harrods tea room and bar are currently open to the public. The exclusive club Harrods announced designed to appeal to the country's ultra-rich consumers will also house another British export with a Gordon Ramsay restaurant a bar and lounge, private dining rooms and terraces for members. Members will also be able to sample some of the rarest bottles of alcohol via its partnership with Scottish whisky company Edrington Group.
Limited to just 250 members the annual fees will start at 150,000 Yuan or £16,000 however additional members will be considered following peer nominations.
At present, Harrods' members globally are made up of professionals and self-made high net-worth individuals aged between 30 and 50, of which 55 percent are females.
