The new Samsung Galaxy S22 is set to be announce at an Unpacked event, with the brand confirming that the materials unsed to create the phone was made from plastic from recycled fishing nets.
Samsung has always pushed the boundaries of mobile technology, and the company is now looking to do the same with its sustainability practices. As part of Galaxy for the Planet journey the brand has decied to focus its attention of plastic aste by giving new life to discarded fishing nets that would otherwise become dangerous waste within our oceans
We all know of the perils of plastic bottles but our oceans are also filled with tons of discarded plastic fishing nets of which Samsung has decided to utilize 640,000 tons.
Commenting on the initiative, TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, said "Repurposing ocean-bound plastics is just the first step in our collective mission to address the climate crisis.”
The brand has also abbounced that it aims to eliminate all plastics in mobile packaging by 2025.
