As the 2019 season drew to end the question on everyone's lips was will Lewis Hamilton decide to end his career at Ferrari when his contract expires next year?
After ending the season on a high securing winning the Abu Dhabi race and securing his sixth world championship Lewis Hamilton has again proved why he is the hottest commodity in F1, which is why there is much speculation as to where Lewis will indeed be driving once his current contract with Mercedes expires next year.
Lewis has spent seven years driving with Mercedes and although team principle Toto Wolfe is confident Lewis will re-sign next season he is not 100% confident . When questioned if the Englishman would remain he said "I would rate it at 75%"
Speaking after the race the 34-year-old did little to quell the speculation "Naturally, everything that happens behind closed doors is always private with whoever you end up sitting with,” Hamilton said.
Lewis has met with Ferrari chairman, John Elkann twice and although he has spoken fondly of his love for Mercedes he is now considering where to finish out his career; "For many years, I have never considered other options," Hamilton said, "I love where I am, so it is definitely not a quick decision to go and do something else. So it is only smart and wise to sit and think about what I want if it is the last phase of my career, naturally I want to keep winning. I can't tell you what will happen going forwards."
