Hollywood Legend, Ben Affleck has placed his stunning Georgia Mansion for sale. The Big House was purchased in 2003 by Affleck for $7.11 million after he fell in love with the Georgia property while filming romantic comedy “Forces of Nature” with Sandra Bullock in 1999. The mansion is a remarkable recreation of a Southern antebellum Greek Revival Plantation home and sits on a plot of 87 acres on Hampton Island, Georgia, which is considered to be one of the Crown Jewels of the Georgia coast, and overlooks the deep water of the North Newport River.
The Big House has 6000 square feet of living area and spacious front and rear verandas - supported by 25' Doric columns - overlooking the North Newport River. The mansion's historically accurate architectural details including plaster moldings, heart of pine floors and massive arched fireplaces, come together to make this an authentic recreation of a Southern plantation home. The proportions, materials and details are extraordinary, from the 15' ceilings and wide planked, reclaimed, hardwood floors to the kitchen cabinets especially designed to resemble those from the 18th century. As wonderful as this main dwelling is, there is much more to behold beyond the verandas of The Big House.
Walking the long brick path to the River from the rear veranda, to the left along the shell path you find The Summer Cottage. The large screened in area of The Summer Cottage is perfect for fish fries, oyster roasts and other outdoor feasts and gatherings. The cottage has a huge fireplace and marvelous exposed, pitched ceilings with exposed beams and metal roof. Relaxing on the Summer House deck you can take in the amazing view of the raised dock, floating dock and the river beyond.
Walking the path to the right leads to a remarkable surprise - The Oyster House. The Oyster House is 10,000 sq. ft. elegantly rustic masterpiece with 6 bedrooms featuring bunk beds salvaged from marine vessels plus 3 master suites. The open floor plan, wrap around balcony and exposed pine beams make this guest house remarkable along with its open air pavilion on the lower level.
In addition to the incredible residences and river views, this magnificent estate also has equestrian opportunities, remarkable ocean access from your private deep-water dock and nearly endless tranquility.
The property is listed for a sale price of $8.9 million via Engel & Vöelkers.
